Photo Of The Day: Saint-Hedwigs-Kathedrale
Monday, January 18th, 2010
Saint-Hedwigs is the oldest catholic church in Berlin. The original architecture was modeled after the Pantheon in Rome and was designed by architect Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff. The original church was destroyed during WWII and was rebuilt by architect Hans Schwippert between 1952 and 1963. The interior is now very modern, although the structure of the original dome was preserved.
